Alfredo James “Al” Pacino is an Academy, BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy, & Screen Actors Guild Award-Winning American film stage actor and director, widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential actors of all time. He was born in East Harlem, Manhattan. He was the son of Italian American parents Rose and Salvatore Alfred Pacino. He attended a school officially named The School of Performing Arts: A Division of the Fiorello H La Guardia High School of Music and the Arts in New York City.
In 1966, he studied under legendary acting coach Lee Strasberg. He made his first screen appearance in an episode of the television series N.Y.P.D. in 1968, and his largely unnoticed movie debut in Me, Natalie came the following year. He is well known for his roles as Michael Corleone in the The Godfather trilogy, Tony Montana in Scarface, Carlito Brigante in the 1993 film Carlito's Way, Frank Serpico in Serpico, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade in Scent of a Woman, and Roy Cohn in Angels in America.
